Beyond Reach: A Novel (Grant County) Review
I have been an avid fan of Karin Slaughter's books since the beginning and I feel that this was one of her best. I have never written a review of any book and yet here I am doing just that. All of the Grant County books are wonderful because we all have fallen in love with the characters. The fact that we are all having such overpowering emotions over Slaughter's unbelievable climax to her story speaks volumes about just how great the story was. I literally cried after the completion of this book and that is the core of an excellent book (at least it is for me). I have read the Will Trent series and have truly fallen in love with his character. I am thrilled to see how all of the characters will entwine together. I guess what I am saying is that if you were that emotional about the ending of this book then you cannot possibly stop reading her series. I highly recommend this book as well as all of her others to anyone who wants true crime, mystery, and heartfelt love all wrapped into one. Great job Karin Slaughter and PLEASE keep them coming!

Beyond Reach: A Novel (Grant County) Overview
In a stifling hospital room in a small Georgia town, Detective Lena Adams sits, silent and angry—the only suspect in a horrific murder. Soon, a hundred miles away, Police Chief Jeffrey Tolliver will get the call that his young detective has been arrested. And Jeffrey’s wife, pediatrician and medical examiner Sara Linton, has troubles of her own and little patience for Lena or her dramas. Fighting a heartbreaking malpractice suit, Sara cannot guess that within days she herself will be at the center of a bizarre and murderous case.
For Lena has fled back to the place where she grew up hard, careening back through the shadows of her past and into a shocking underground world of bigotry and rage. And now only Jeffrey and Sara can free Lena from the web of lies and brutality that has trapped her—as this powerhouse of a novel races toward its shattering climax…and a final, unforgettable twist.

DON'T GIVE UP! - W. Smith - Atlanta, GA
I am a huge fan of the Linton-Tolliver series and was devastated by the ending of Beyond Reach: A Novel (Grant County). (Yes, I know its fiction). I was so angry! I swore I would never read another book by Karin Slaughter. After the shock faded and I really thought about it, I realized this was an amazing and courageous decision by Karin Slaughter. Since Slaughter is a fabulous mystery writer, I think the surprise ending of this novel adds to the Grant County story for the remaining characters and allows Slaughter to move in new directions. Plus, Beyond Reach is just a great read!
Remember, Karin Slaughter doesn't write love stories, she writes about screwed up people involved in creepy tales of murder.
Hey, all good things must come to an end. (I wish someone would tell Janet Evanovich and ship Stephanie Plum off).
I have seen the future of these Grant County characters (Fractured and Broken: A Novel) and I am right!
The Worst Ending Ever. Will not buy her novels again! - GroomerLady -
While most of this novel was informative, interesting and held my attention the ending made it one of the worst
books I've ever read. She was one of my favorite authors. I live in GA and her dad is very important to the town in which I live, so I try to read each and every one of her novels. The ending was so dissapointing and unnecessary that I'm still upset about it and I finished it almost three months ago. I won't be buying any more of her books.
What a stupid ending - shooter -
This was a new author for me and although I believe her style is a little overdone I was interested enough to finish the book. Then came the ending, and that ended my interest in reading any more of her offerings. It almost seemed as if she was embarrassed by what she had written and decided to end it in the most insulting way she could imagine. Authors who assume their following will be there no matter what drivel they dish up are beyond boring.
